Commission!

So, my shop is open, I have made my first sale and now I am working on my first commission! I had a lovely visitor here at Misty Cottage the other day and he saw this swatch on the table and asked if I could make him something similar but larger to hang on his wall - how exciting is that!

So that is currently on my needles though the yarn is not beaded but he is happy for me to sew the beads on. How brilliant to get to work on such a fun project and be paid!

Another reason to love having visitors is that you get to take them out and remember why you live where you do.

We visited Tintagel first to check out the amazing face in the cliff which I have blogged about here and then went to Boscastle, which is a beautifully picturesque harbour.

This is a picture of the Boscastle Blowhole, otherwise known as the Devil's Bellows. We were lucky enough to be there at the right time to see it in action as it blows water horizontally across the harbour.

The weather here in Cornwall has been stunning for weeks now, clear blue skies and lovely, still, fragrant air. I have a theory about this, during the last week of August I bought a new waterproof coat and trousers so that I would have no excuse not to leave the car near the children's school and walk the nearly 3 miles home each morning and then back again in the afternoon. Amazingly I have not had to wear either the coat or the trousers yet! It is all up hill in the mornings to get home and I am walking very briskly (in an attempt to get fit and counter balance the fact that most of what I do whilst the children are at school is knitting, spinning, sewing or computer based and therefore very sedentary) so it has been very warm work so far. Whilst walking I have my ear buds in and am listening to The Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon. It is the fourth book in the Outlander series and once again I could and sometimes do, listen to it all day long - well, until I meet up with the children in the afternoon.

  2. Thank you Pat, it is really exciting. I watch Doc Martin too - Port Wenn is actually Port Isaac which is not too far from Misty Cottage and they have filmed down the lane here before which was quite exciting.

  3. What a lovely place to live. And how fun and gratifying - to have someone admire your work and pay you to make HIM something similar!
