Will I Ever Learn?

Probably not! I have come a cropper with the White Knuckle Knitting yet again. This time it was on the socks. I had two part balls of similarly coloured sock yarn which I thought I would use up together to make up a pair of socks. Unfortunately but predictably I ran out of yarn whilst decreasing the toe of the second sock. There followed much gnashing of teeth because I had taken the socks away with me as my holiday knitting and to not be able to finish them to free the needles to cast on the next pair was highly frustrating. Here they are in all their mismatched glory.

My son did actually point out that I had not knitted a pair of socks but had simply knitted two socks - true but not so helpful!

I have just cast on the next pair which are being knitted with some hand dyed 80/20 merino/nylon from Rosie's Moments. I got this yarn from Proper Woolly a fibre fair that I blogged about here. The colourway is called Plum and I love it so am looking forward to the finished socks.

Elsewhere in knitting I just need to do the edging on the armholes of my gilet so hope to have that done by tomorrow and then who knows what will come next? Nothing too complicated as the children are home for the holidays and my attention is required.

As for what I am reading, well I have just finished listening to the third book in the Outlander series. I have been really enjoying these books but feel the need for a break from audio books while the children are at home. It is not very sociable to have stories whispering in my ears when spending time with the children. I am feeling the need for some actual reading with my eyes, the feeling has been building for a few days but I have held off from starting a novel as I have study group tonight and still have some pages of Steiner's Philosophy of Freedom to prepare for that.

My sister-in-law recommended a Marion Keyes novel, Rachel's Holiday, which I think I will dive into tomorrow. I haven't read any of her books before so fingers crossed for something absorbing.
