Yarn Along

This week, joining in with Ginny I have a pair of socks on my needles. I have a sock target – I would like to have enough pairs of handknit wool socks so that I don't have to wear anything else all winter (autumn and spring as well if the truth be known, I love cosy feet.) I use the same pattern everytime which I realise isn't very adventurous but it is easy and sock knitting is for when I don't want to think too hard or something exciting is on the iplayer.

Reading this week is Steiner's lectures on the Gospel of St Luke. I think these are my favourite of Steiner's lectures that I have come across so far. I am re-reading them as I am studying them in my local anthroposophical study group. I love the way that these lectures are full of a message of love, joy and the unity of religions. The idea of finding common ground rather than focussing on differences is so important and the fact that spiritual truths are spoken by people of different faiths, nations and races at different points in history is clear and unifying in itself.

  1. Your sock is so pretty! I love the pooling effect. Great goal to have - after a couple of years I wear nothing but hand knit socks. Nothing can keep my feet warmer!

  2. I love the colour of those socks. I think it is great to have a go-to pattern for basics that you know will work every time. I should re-read Steiner - there is always something new you pick up.

    1. You are right Jayne, I find a new focus each time I re-read a lecture. It all comes together slowly to some kind of understanding. Definitely a process! If I can find a link to the pattern I use I will post it. Do you have any go-to patterns to share?

  3. Your socks are lovely - I love the yarn colorway! Socks are so fun to knit and see how they come together. I'm a bit socked out after doing a sock tutorial. I just recently discovered 6 ply sock yarn and it's a joy to knit with. Wishing you a wonderful day :)
